A-Z post

I pulled this from another blogger-friend and thought it was fun and simple enough to do!

A. Age: 29 at the moment.
B. Bed size: Queen, want King SOOO bad.
C. Chore that you hate: Laundry. I despise so CJ does it.
D. Dogs: Layla, the best doggie ever! Addie loves her too so it makes her extra special!
E. Essential start to your day: Most definite coffee. A MUST HAVE!
F. Favorite color: Well, my favorite color is burnt orange however this is not my favorite color to wear. That would be black.
G. Gold or Silver: I am a silver Tiffany's kind of gal!
H. Height: 5'9
I. Instruments you play(ed): I played the bass in elementary school and then the flue in high school.
J. Job: Marketing, Advertising, PR and Social Media all wrapped into one fabulous me!
K. Kids: My Addiebug, Addison Grace, 6 months of lots of loving!
L. Live: Chicago, IL currently.
M. Mother's name: Cindy!
N. Nicknames: I don't like nicknames for my actual name so I have none however I am frequently called Hoadley (or Hruska in college) and babe from the hubby.
O. Overnight hospital stays: When I had Addison. Otherwise, none that I can recall.
P. Pet peeves: People breathing or chewing obnoxiously loud.
Q. Quote from a movie: A life is like a box of chocolates.
R. Right or left handed: Right.
S. Siblings: I am the oldest. I have a younger brother, Michael.
T. Time you wake up: 5:45am during the week. Anywhere between 7-9 on the weekends. Usually baby let's us sleep and then hubby lets me sleep even longer :)
U. Underwear: Thongs!
V. Vegetable you hate: not a fan of the lima bean.
W. What makes you run late?: getting ready in general. Lots of long hair takes forever to blowdry and style and then picking clothes out. Surprisingly though, i am better now, after Addie at getting out the door than before. She has taught me severe organization (getting everything ready the night before or prior to an outing) is key!
X. X-Rays you've had: wow, lots, most recently of my knee. Prior and after surgery.
Y. Yummy food that you make: There are very few times I cook where I don't like or hubby doesn't like what i make. I like to cook so i take pride in my meal offerings. Addie prefers my cooking over the jarred stuff too!
Z: Zoo animal: Bottom line, leopard. I was once, and secretly still am, obsessed with leopard print!

Silly girl

Addison is showing her personality more and more these days. And let me tell you, that personality is a funny one. She is full of expressions, lots of smiles and belly laughs.

I captured some cute pictures of her playing with Mommy on the floor. (this is a huge deal because I haven't been on the floor with her in quite some time since surgery) You will see my foot, tattoo and brace are all of interest to Addison. She kept trying to lick, suck and pet my toes. Yum, right?

Then baby proceeded to put her bloomers on her head. Oh my, we have our hands full with Little Miss Personality.

Enjoy the pictures! (There are a lot of them!)

hi mom!

this is MY toy, not yours!

wow, your foot is bigger than mine.

what's that you got on your ankle?

reaching for mommy's toes

hmm, i think THIS goes in my mouth (along with everything else)

yum!

and now what's this?

in my mouth too?
and this is what happens when you take my bloomers off.....

I put them on my head!

silly me!

layla in on the action!

Sittin' Pretty-VIDEO

Little Miss Muffet sat on her tuffet....yeah, whatever that is supposed to mean. Little Addie Bug is now sitting on her tuffet aka BOTTOM!

She surprised us by sitting during her 6 month photoshoot and hasn't stopped since. She is pretty good at balancing but every once in awhile she looses concentration and falls forward or backward. If there is no pillow to catch her.....tears explode. See 6 month sticker pictures for example.

I had a very good video of her sitting pretty last week but I accidentely reformatted my SD card therefore lost ALL, yes ALL my pictures and videos. Even though someone at CJ's work was able to obtain the pictures, he was unable to save the video.

So while I don't love this video as much as the other, it captures our little girls in clear love with each other. It also just so happens to show Addison's favorite toy. Her wipes, yes, her wipes. Don't ask. She's obsessed. And we will do ANYTHING to keep her happy!

Six Month Sticker Photos

These pictures are courtesy of CJ taking them since I am unable to get down on the floor and actually take pictures of her. He did a great job!

As mentioned in another post, Addison is growing rapidly thanks to her love for food. Wonder where she got that from? Everything is growing from her legs to even her hair. If you compare her four month picture piggy tails, you can see they have grown significantly in the last 2 months.

Here are some others to enjoy!

Caparison with Layla. Both girls are getting so big, hehe:

Look, I can now SIT next to my big sister!
Love her expression!
I know how to smile when Mommy (or Daddy in this case)
brings that big thing out and starts snapping!

Right before falling backward and hitting her head

and this is what happened, poor baby!

Miss Diva but I do have pretty eye lashes!

awwww

more, really?

you are waving something at me,
oh wait, I know what it is!
my WIPES!!

ah, satisfaction!

Kisses from Layla who does NOT like to hear baby cry!

I am all HAPPY now!

6 month Check up with STATS

Dear Family and Friends,

I have an update after I went to the doctor this morning. I am now 16lbs, 4oz and am 27 inches long. That puts me in the 50th percentile for weight and 90th for height. I am certain its all the homemade food Mommy and Daddy have been feeding me.

I had to get 3 shots and did great. I only fussed for a few seconds and Daddy picked me up and calmed me down immediately. The nurse told me there was just something about me that was special, she couldn't put her finger on it but was certain my eyes were just beautiful and I was a very good baby, she could just tell. Mommy and Daddy didn't disagree, that is for sure

So, all in all, I did great. I go back in two more weeks for my 2nd round of shots and again 3 weeks after that for my final flu shot.

PS. Here are pictures of me waiting to see Dr. Campbell. I was playing with Daddy's keys. I especially loved the paper they put on the table. I destroyed it in seconds.

PSS. I have been busy growing and becoming a young lady. In my 6 months of life, I have been able to conquer some pretty awesome things that my Mommy and Daddy are SO proud of including:

1. Sitting up- at about 5 months, 3 weeks I sat up by myself with little to no practice. While getting my photos done, my photographer asked if I could sit by myself. Since my Mommy and Daddy didn't know, they put me in the sitting position and I surprised them by sitting for many of my pictures. I haven't stopped since and I am getting better at sitting unassisted every day.

2. Scooting- I have been able to lay on my back and scoot myself with my feet virtually anywhere I want to go. My Mommy and Daddy can't put me in one place and expect to find me still there....nope, I am on the move.

3. "Crawling"- I am still trying to get this one down. At about 5 1/2 months when my buddy Archer visited, my parents discovered I could get up on my knees and "crawl". Now, I try to kid them that this is crawling but they know better, I actually have to move somewhere, thus far, all I am doing is rocking back and forth. I will prove them that I can crawl when they least expect it, promise!

4. Eating- I am eating like a big girl. My Mommy has been awesome in making me my own food. This is what I have tried thus far:
  • Peaches, Apples, Nectarines
  • Bananas and Avocados
  • Blueberries and Strawberries (now, I know that I am not supposed to have this until 9+months but my Mommy cooked these to kill all the pesticides and strained them for no seeds!)
  • Blueberries, Raspberries and Pear (See above)
  • Sweet Potato, Carrot, Butternut Squash
  • Eggplant, Yellow Squash, Carrot, Apple
I have had no allergic reactions yet and have LOVED everything I have tried. Mommy and Daddy will begin meat with me, per doctors orders, next week. I am still taking a 7 ounce bottle every 4-5 hours throughout the day.

5. Sleep- I love my sleep at home, but not so much at school. Actually I prefer not to sleep at school. I guess I am just too social and nosy for sleep. At home though, I love to sleep and can take several naps per day, some as long as 3 hours long. hehe! I have my strict bedtime (unless Mommy and Daddy have friends/family over-then I can party with them a little later) of 8pm and usually sleep until 5am when I demand to have my paci back in my mouth. After Daddy plugs me, I can sleep for another 2 or so hours.

6. Activities- I just love love love my Jumperroo. One of my favorite toys. I insist you go buy one if you don't already have it. Yup, I can be demanding even at 6 months of age. If you take something away from me that I want, I will throw a temper tantrum (yes, just like Mommy did when she was younger). Please don't take my noisy toys away, especially anything that crinkles otherwise you WILL see me get upset. Otherwise, I stay pretty happy and content. I love to paint and do art activities at school. My parents are so proud of me to see my artwork at the end of each month when school sends it home.

7. What's next? Well, I hope you continue to read my Mommy's blog. She loves to keep everyone updated about me and brag about how great I am, how cute I am and whatever else she can think of about me. I am growing to be a young lady and it's hard to believe I have weathered Mommy and Daddy for a full 6 months---they are crazy I tell ya.

Looking forward to seeing you guys soon!

Love,

Addison

Momma out for the Count

Wow, I never realized how much we take walking, unassisted for granted. On Tuesday, September 6th I had surgery on my left knee. Back in May, I had twisted my knee and the verdict was, I tore my ACL and meniscus. I finally decided to have surgery just days after Addison's baptism when I had help in town, Addison's Gramma Pat and Grandpa David.

So, Tuesday morning came and into surgery I went. They replaced my torn ACL with a cadaver's Achilles tendon. My meniscus was torn but wasn't bad enough to do any surgery on. I was given a huge brace, crutches, water machine and sent home.

Luckily Gramma and Grandpa took VERY good care of both Addison and I while they were here. They headed home on Sunday when I became more mobile and was able to fend for myself for the most part. Daddy has stepped in where needed and taking great care of Addison. I can, of course, hold her and play with her, so as long as I am sitting or laying in bed. I was able to feed her solids last night for the first time in over a week.

I miss caring my baby up and down the steps, getting her ready in the morning, sitting on the floor and playing with her, but, she has reminded me, she still needs me. Yesterday she was extremely tired and just wanted me to rock her to sleep. She didn't want the swing, rock and play, crib or even Daddy. She peacefully went to slumber right in my arms.

I have been going to Physical Therapy to strengthen my quad, legs and knee. The goal is obviously to be back to where I was prior to tearing my ACL in hopefully the next 2-3 months. I need to get ready for little miss when she begins walking because once that happens, there is no going back. heheh!

Here are two pictures of the knee. If you get queasy with blood, sorry, here's your fair warning.

Catching up....it's been awhile

So, I am playing major catch up. Seems like I haven't blogged in awhile besides a video here and there. Life has been crazy busy and I promise I will go back and blog on the major events like the Laurion's visit, Christie and Paddy's (Godparents) visit, Addison's Baptism, my knee surgery and of course, Addison's milestones like sitting, crawling and her 6 month stats.

I will be working on these posts over the next few days so stay tuned. In the meantime, enjoy a few sneak peak pictures.
